allen's '07 Cayman S shows that any Porsche Cayman can dress-up even the most shabby of
neighborhoods... in this case, the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. After hanging with the
Vanderbilts for a day, they hit the Blue Ridge Pkwy for the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit last June.

Great shot. Somewhere I have a photo of my '86 white 911 (complete with whale tail) taken from the same vantage spot.

only thing missing in this one is a butler serving bagles and locks along with cordials.
Very tastefully done looks like something out of the Rob Report.

Your probably right Chad, I usually don't use it which is surprising for as much of a detailing fanatic as I am.

My wife and I had a great day touring the estate and the grounds. While I was taking this picture there was some guy in his early 20's commenting on what a beautiful car it was and taking just as many pictures. It's probably on his screensaver. Our son had this photo on his computer at work and someone asked him if that was his parents house.

I still think that we should do a calender for the club and sell them to raise money for a charity. There are some beautiful cars and some great backrounds. Maybe the members could vote on the top 12 pictures and that could be our calender for 2012 as it is too late for 2011. Especially after we have 20-30 choices. Always looking for a way to help those less fortunate than us. It would be a great statement for our club.

Gary,

We've worked real hard to keep the Cayman Register non profit. Doing this for charity might be nice, but we really don't have the picture collection or membership to support this yet. Maybe in 2012.

Every year our local car club, a non profit, has a car show and we give away about $10,000 to local charities. I do not know how all the non-profit rules work. Thank you for the clarification. If the club can find a way for something like this to work I would like to help. Gary

Sounds like a great idea. I would love to find a way to use our passion for these cars to help others.

Great pic Alan!
I'm a big fan of the Biltmore as well. My mother lives just south of it, I'd love to be able to take my Cayman out to my mom's house and drive some the roads out there.

Nice photo. Great color as well! The fact that most impressed me when we visited was as we looked out the upper level windows, we were told that the Vanderbilts originally owned all of the land as far as one could see.

The tidbit we were told on one tour of the house which has always stuck with me was that you can see Mt. Pisgah from the "back porch" of the Biltmore Estate, and it is approximately 13 miles away. The Vanderbilts owned all the land in between! I believe the total estate was some 80,000 acres.

Amazing...
