Time to hit the track again. Gonzo puts the hammer down on his '07 Cobalt Blue over Stone
Grey Cayman S as he exits one of the most iconic corners in racing - the Oak Tree turn at ViR.
He was one of a big "float" of Caymans and their owners who invaded the Zone 2 DE in March.

A great "action" shot! For gonzo's sake, it's a familiar scene, and one we hope to see repeated in the not-too-distant future.

Editing, what editing? Are you telling me that's not raw?

Some post process work by Mr. beez to bring out some colors, sharpening, and other things that only a pro knows to do.

Here is my original.

Another CR first, pre and post processed photos. Looks like beez did some contrast work the highlights are much poppier. Feel free to use that word I just made up, "poppier".

If only there was a "poppier" button in Photoshop - life would be so much easier. I usually spend anywhere from 30-minutes to an hour working on most POTMs in Photoshop so they look good on the site, then I usually send the member a large copy of their enhanced picture for them to keep. One of the reasons why I ask for un-processed pictures. There's always some exceptions, of course - the picture before this one was shot by a professional who is also an Adobe certified Photoshop expert, so I took what he sent and posted it, and it looked fabulous. In this case because it was Pete, I asked him to send me the RAW file, and I spent about two hours on it - a lot of little tweaks in RAW - then 30 minutes alone just to mask-out the car from the rest of the picture, then masking gonzo out from the rest of the car. I also added a slight motion blur to the background - it was obvious that's what Pete was going for, I just helped it along... anyway, a little peek behind the POTM curtain...

I'll talk to my friends at Adobe about that "poppier" button, sounds like such a a simple thing.

BTW, the cupboard is getting a little bare on POTMs, so feel free to send some my way... please.

Wow! Great job with the latest POTM. I'm honored to grace the home page of the register. I expect to be back on the track later this season. I'm finally catching up and will be posting the latest status on my engine in a little while.

It's been quite a while since I Laughed Out Loud at something I read on the internet, but that just tickled the hell out of me.

Thanks for all the hard work beez, not just on this latest photo, it always makes our front page look great.

Hardly room for an acorn beneath the car! Nice shooting. Is this why they call you Pistol Pete:wink:

Really nice pic in a truly iconic turn. Good job by both Pete and Gonzo. Makes me miss hanging out with you guys on the track even more. And I just can't find the damn "Poppier" button on my photo editor... lol

I haven't been to VIR in at least 30 years (maybe longer) but I saw that oak and knew exactly where that picture was taken. As an SCCA/IMSA corner captain I used to work the turn just before Oak Tree. Thanks for the memories. Great picture!

I got a new computer monitor and the picture looks even more poppier and luminous now.

Iconic, like Brazooca said, unmistakable, it's definitely the track's signature corner.

Thanks for the various Pictures of the month. Brought back wonderful memories.

Sad the Oak Tree fell down in a storm. I miss that noble landmark. Thanks again. Ed

That IS a great photo of a beautiful car. I got to make quite a few rounds under that old oak in my Audi before it fell. Unfortunately the Cayman will make it's first trip there this November and round the corner with no shade. I wonder if I'll be able to find the apex? :-)
